Great Curling In Inverness

29 Oct 2017 by Stewart Pimblett

So the Highland Wheelchair Curling Triples at Inverness Ice Centre is over for another year. Tuesday 24th saw Provost Cllr. Helen Carmichael deliver the first stone to start the competition. Once the day’s play was over the curlers were treated to a Haggis Neeps and Tatties supper. Then on Wednesday it was back to the Ice Rink for a full day’s play. This was followed in the evening with a Civic Reception/Dinner hosted by City of Inverness Highland Counci and held in the Lochardil House Hotel. Thursday saw the final day of competitive play where Team Donaldson – Ian Donaldson, Stewart Pimblett and Keith Thom lifted the coveted “Tesco Trophy”. In terms of support and sponsorship, we are indebted to TESCO Inverness, Provost Helen Carmichael and the Highland Council City of Inverness Common Good Fund, Inverness Ice Centre, Dicksons of Inverness, and Ashes Bakery Nairn to name a few. Also for all the other donations that we received towards the event A Big thank you! – it’s impossible to name everyone. Lastly another BIG Thank You has to go to all the assistants and volunteers and of course to the curlers without whom the competition would not be able to take place. All that’s needed to say now is “Haste Ye Back” to next years competition – date to be confirmed.
